Beosound 2






SET UP YOUR CONNECTION

Now you have your BeoSound 2 up and running. You should connect it to your Wi-Fi network to make full use of the device.

To add the BeoSound 2 to your Bang & Olufsen account and connect it to Wi-Fi, complete the following steps:

  1. Your BeoSound 2 will blink orange a minute after turning it on for the first time, meaning it is ready to be discovered.
  2. Open the Bang & Olufsen app. Go to the Settings page, then to My Products.
  3. In the My Products screen, click the plus symbol to add a new device.
  4. The app will ask you to turn Bluetooth on, to discover the device.
  5. The BeoSound 2 will now appear under New products found. Click the plus sign to select the device.
  6. Follow the set-up instructions on screen, including renaming the device.
  7. Select the wireless network you would like to connect to, and then enter your password to connect your device to the network.
  8. Proceed on next screen to check for software updates. Install the software update if required.

Now, your BeoSound 2 is connected to the Wi-Fi, it is ready to stream music and for Multiroom.

CONNECT PRODUCTS

Connect other products such as digital sources, Smart Cards, speakers or a computer. In Device Connector selected in the Home menu, you can see a list of connected products. 

 

Digital sources

Connect external HDMI sources, such as a set-top box, computer or game console. All products connected to the television can be configured. For more information, see the article 'SET UP CONNECTED PRODUCTS'.

Depending on the product you connect to the television, different cables and maybe also adaptors are needed. If you have more than one type of products that need a PUC socket, you must buy an extra PUC cable. Cables and adaptors are available from your Bang & Olufsen retailer.

Connect a digital source...

  1. Connect the cable to the appropriate socket on the digital product.
  2. Run the cable to an HDMI IN socket on the television. It is recommended to use one of the HDMI A-D sockets to be able to operate the source with your Bang & Olufsen remote control.
  3. To enable operation of the digital product with your Bang & Olufsen remote control, connect an IR-transmitter to one of the PUC sockets and attach it to the IR-receiver of the digital product. Find more information about IR-transmitters under 'IR-transmitters' in this article.
  4. Follow on-screen instructions to configure the source.*

*When selecting Game console as source, the picture mode Game is activated as default setting. You can change this setting temporarily. For more information, see the article 'PICTURE SETTINGS'.

Connect a camera...

  1. Connect the cable to the appropriate socket on the camera.
  2. Run the cable to an HDMI IN socket on the television. 
  3. Follow on-screen instructions to configure the source.

 

Computer

Before you connect a computer, you must disconnect the television, the computer and all connected products from the mains supply.

  1. Using the appropriate type of cable, connect one end to the DVI or HDMI output socket on your computer, and the other end to an HDMI IN socket on the television. It is recommeded to use one of the HDMI A-D sockets to be able to operate the source with your Bang & Olufsen remote control.
  2. If you use the DVI output socket on the computer, use the appropriate cable and connect the sound output on the computer to the LINE-IN socket on the television to hear sound from the computer in the speakers connected to the television.
  3. Reconnect the television, the computer, and all connected products to the mains. Remember, the computer must be connected to a grounded wall outlet as specified in its setting-up instructions.
  4. Follow on-screen instructions to configure the source.

 

Bluetooth sources

You can use Bluetooth to stream from any music source or directly from your hand-held device. Connect your device via Bluetooth to the television,  see the article 'SMART TV'.

 

Analogue audio source 

You can connect one analogue audio source. To configure products connected to the television, see the article 'SET UP CONNECTED PRODUCTS'.

Disconnect all systems from the mains before you connect additional products.

  1. Connect the cable to the appropriate socket on the product you wish to connect.
  2. Run the cable to the LINE-IN socket on the television.
  3. Reconnect the television and the connected products to the mains.
  4. Follow on-screen instructions to configure the source.

Different adaptors and possibly also cables are needed. Cables and adaptors are available from your Bang & Olufsen retailer.

 

IR-transmitters

To operate non-Bang & Olufsen products with a BeoRemote One, attach a Bang & Olufsen IR-transmitter on your non-Bang & Olufsen product and then connect it to one of the sockets marked PUC on the connection panel. Attach the transmitter near the IR-receiver on the connected product to ensure remote control operation. Before attaching the transmitter permanently, check that you can operate the product menus on the TV screen using BeoRemote One.

When you set up the transmitter to a selected PUC socket in the Sources menu found under Sound & BeoLink... in Settings, settings for the IR-transmitter are made automatically. However, it is possible to perform a manual setup of the socket if alternative settings are required.

Smart Card

If you want to watch coded channels, contact your service provider. The service provider will register you as an authorised viewer, usually requiring payment. You will then be provided with a Smart Card and a CA Module. Note that these will only be valid for one service provider and therefore only work with certain channels.

To see information about the connected CI (Common Interface), press  and then Settings followed by Picture & Programmes...Programmes and CI Information

Note that using CI modules or CAM modules is only possible on some markets.

If you use a CI module or CAM module,

  • This function enables you to watch some encrypted services (pay services).
  • If you remove the CI Module, you cannot watch pay services.
  • CI (Common Interface) functions may not be possible depending upon the country broadcasting circumstances.
  • When the module is inserted into the CI slot, you can access the module menu.
  • When the TV is turned on after inserting a CI Module, you may not have any video and audio output in scrambled programme.
  • When using a CAM(Conditional Access Module), please make sure it meets fully the requirements of either DVB-CI or CI plus.
  • An abnormal process of CAM(Conditional Access Module) may cause a bad picture.
  • If the TV does not display any video and audio when CI+ CAM is connected, please contact to the Antenna/Cable/Satellite Service Operator. (This feature is available on certain models only.)

 

Speakers

You can connect up to eight wired speakers and subwoofers to the television using Power Link cables.

In addition, you can connect up to eight speakers wirelessly, including subwoofers. For more information about setting up wireless speakers, see the article 'SOUND SETTINGS'.

The illustration shows an example of a speaker setup with two front speakers, two daisy-chained rear speakers and a subwoofer.

Connect speakers...

  1. Connect a Power Link cable to the appropriate socket on the speakers you wish to connect to the television.*
  2. Run the cables to available sockets marked PL 1–4 on the television.
  3. Connect a Power Link cable to the appropriate sockets on a subwoofer.
  4. Run the cable to an available socket marked PL 1–4 on the television.
  5. Reconnect the television and the connected speakers to the mains.

*Remember to set the switch for left and right position on the speakers depending on whether your speaker is positioned on the left or right of your listening position.

If you want to connect two speakers to one PL socket on the television and it is not possible to loop the cable between the speakers, an extra splitter is needed, contact your Bang & Olufsen retailer for more information.

Updating software

WHAT SERVICES ARE COMPATIBLE WITH MY BEOSOUND 2?

iOS and Android devices can be used with BeoSound 2. The software of your device should always be the latest version. If you want to stream to your BeoSound 2 (except if you use Bluetooth), the device you are using and the BeoSound 2 must be connected to the same home network, see Start here

Spotify, TuneIn and Deezer must be set up for use with BeoSound 2. This means that you must enter your credentials in the Bang & Olufsen app. If you do not have an account, you can sign up from the webpages:

(Deezer and Spotify must be at least Premium accounts)

Note that TuneIn, Deezer and Spotify may not be available on all markets.

Once you have started to play from Spotify, TuneIn or Deezer, you can close the app and even switch off your device and playback of the currently selected play queue will continue to the end, or until you pause or switch off BeoSound 2 or select a different source to play on BeoSound 2. Operation of Spotify, TuneIn and Deezer, such as stepping in tracks, can take place on the device with your Bang & Olufsen app or by using the touch plate on top of BeoSound 2.

When the Bang & Olufsen app is running on the mobile device, you can “transfer” playback to BeoSound 2 either by selecting the product in your app or by tapping the top of BeoSound 2 shortly (for 1 second), the status indicator will flash white once as confirmation. It takes up to 5 seconds before the connection is established between your device and BeoSound 2.

If Spotify, Deezer or TuneIn is muted, paused or one of them was the last played source, you can “tap into” the music source by tapping the top of BeoSound 2.
